The Boom Festival – An awesome yet unpredictable adventure!

The Boom Festival is a biennial festival that unites electronic music, perfomances and art exhibitions related to the environment. The Boom Festival takes place in an incredible natural setting, between trees and gardens on the shore of the beautiful lake in Idanha-a-Nova.

Inspired by the principles of Oneness, Peace, Creativity, Sustainability, Transcendence, Alternative Culture, Active Participation, Evolution and Love, it is a space where people from all over the world can converge to experience an alternative reality.

Boom Festival started in 1997 and since 1998 it has taken place every other year as a weeklong psychedelic trance music festival. Festival-goers come from around the world to enjoy the progressive arts and music that lean towards genres in trance, chill-out, and other gentler electronic styles, although festival organizers are always on the lookout for alternate artistic genres. Art and performance play a large role, with circus, street theatre, jugglers, fire shows, film screenings, and amazing talents from all over the world also converging on the festival.

There are also talks and presentations on a variety of topics such as activism, psychedelia, free cultural areas, ancestral rites, mythology, ecology, permaculture, trance, sacred plants and alternative science.

Boom Festival wins for a fifth time after being named ‘Outstanding’

From the very beginning of this festival, several projects have been linked to it which promote a commitment to the environment such as sustainable energy resources, water management, habitat and ecosystem regeneration, recycling, bioconstruction, biofuel, promoting public transport to reduce carbon emissions, ecoart, social immersion for minorities and environmental education.

Boom is totally independent, no sponsors, and engaging in sustainability is made strictly with our own resources and an amazing contribution of our fabulous Boomers. On the other hand, the organizers are using the Boom experience to reforest the Boomland and act on many fronts such as charity, on the integration of people, and positively affect the surrounding area of the festival.

This is a camping event. It is recommend to bring a tent, sleeping bag, mattress, poles, tarps and other infrastructures you might need to create a shaded campsite. Prepare for hot weather. Free water is available on site. There will be plenty of yummy food available for purchase in the restaurant area and in the Boom grocery store. So, are you coming?
