Cowalfest offers a 10-day festival during October. This annual Walking and Outdoors Festival is one of the largest and most varied walking festivals in Scotland. More than 60 walks will be led by expert and knowledgeable walk leaders. It takes place in the beautifully scenic Cowal Peninsula. Situated between Loch Fyne and the Firth of Clyde in the west Scotland. This “hidden gem of Argyll” – where an abundance of wildlife, scenery, and heritage to be found are less than thirty miles from Glasgow.

All ages and abilities are catered for and the walks cover interest areas of wildlife, bird watching, drama, art, history, heritage, folklore, tai chi, great gardens, great houses and some great hill walks.
CowalFest Argyll 2016 is organized by the Cowal Walking Festival Association. A voluntary body which draws support from the people, communities, organizations and businesses from throughout the Cowal Peninsula. Now in its fourteenth year, this festival is still reinventing itself offering more than eighty events.
What can you expect? There will be walks for all skill and health levels, along with family-friendly entertainment. The festival will also include Scottish dancing and music, a photography contest, a beer and wine festival, and so much more over the 10 days.
While the official opening of CowalFest 2016 will take place on Saturday 8th October at Dunoon Pier (in partnership with the Dunoon Presents Ultra Marathon). There will also be a whole day full of events running up to this, taking place on Friday 7th October. Make sure you have the dates in your diary so you don’t miss out.
CowalFest Argyll will be working with NHS Living it Up, Arthritis Care Scotland, The Cowal Way, Wilder Ways (horse riding), Ardentinny Outdoor Education Centre, local walking groups in Cowal and local businesses.
