San Sebastián’s Tamborrada Festival is one of the biggest events on the Basque city’s calendar, bringing everyone together to celebrate its patron saint and strong city traditions.
San Sebastián’s Tamborrada Festival takes place from midnight on January 19 to midnight on January 20 each year. At midnight, in the Konstituzio Plaza in the “Alde Zaharra/Parte Vieja” (Old Town), the mayor raises the flag of San Sebastián. The festival lasts for 24 hours.
More than 15,000 Donostiarras (the people of San Sebastian as they are called in Basque) that belong to over 100 bands, actively take part in the drumming.
