Love beer? MBCF Needs You.

MBCF only happens thanks to hundreds of volunteers who give up their time to perform lots of roles at the festival from serving beer to washing glasses. We urgently need more volunteers for 2019. Volunteers do not have to be CAMRA members. All volunteers get free beer at the sessions they work. Volunteers at set up get beer tokens they can use when the festival is open. Now in its sixth year, the festival sprung from the National Winter Ales Festival which ran in the city for almost a decade. Most of the locally-based organizing team decided to promote a festival to showcase Manchester as a great beer city. After a successful two years at the National Cycling Centre, the festival took the big decision to set up in the vast space of Manchester Central (which will never shake off its former name of G-Mex). The central location in the heart of the city proved to be a popular move for visitors and, to the relief of the organizers, a good commercial choice, too. The festival has a winning formula, evidenced by the record-breaking attendance of 15,558 in 2018. But organizers, mainly drawn from the nine Greater Manchester CAMRA branches, carefully examine trends to refresh the parts other festivals can’t reach.
